Hotel History

23 Jul 2018

Thought I would share my little find with you. I have owned one of your GPX 4500’s for a number of years and love it! I never get tired of chasing gold. I recently started looking into your CTX 3030 so I could mix it up a little bit on the weekends, as I am surround by history. My son has had a GO-FIND 20 for 12 months and enjoys poking around looking for coins. On Sunday, I decided to give it a run around my yard, as there once stood a hotel there during the gold rush. I managed to pick up a number of coins in my outdoor sitting area (mainly 1c and 2c pieces) with ease and then proceeded to work the ground behind where my shed stands. I was using my Minelab pinpointer to locate and recover the coins extremely fast, which added to the excitement. As you could imagine the ground around the shed was very trashy but I still managed to identify some good solid targets and picked up a few more coin. As I worked away from the shed, the ground became less trashy and I was able to really take my time and cover the ground ahead of me thoroughly. I came across a nice clear toned signal and proceeded to dig a plug; as soon as I pulled the plug out and flipped it over; I saw a coin located in the soil. I gave it a gentle blow but could not quite work out what it was, I took the coin inside and ran it under some water and was blown away when I saw the date. After a very gentle wash, the coin was showing its full detail and condition, an 1877 Penny! I was amazed at the condition of it after spending so many years in the ground. I gave it a special home in my display cabinet with the rest of my finds and haven’t stopped thinking about what else may be lying beneath my feet. Safe to say I will buying my CTX 3030 sooner than I thought!
