Glad I moved

21 Jul 2018

Got up early for the minus tide and headed out for a popular tourist beach where I had found gold in the past. After covering a good amount of territory at waist deep all the Excalibur II was finding was light trash bottlecaps and pull tabs. Too much sand so I did something I don't usually do- got back in the car wet and went to another smaller beach where I had found older coins like buffalo nickels and a few wheat cents as well as a couple silver rings. I usually hunt in all metal and swich to disc when I hear something so after a good 1/2 hour and some clad I hear a faint siginal in pp- switch to disc and it's there but faint also. After 3 scoops of sand and black rocks I see the pretty sight of gold against the black rocks in the scoop. Haven't weighed it as I don't have my scale with me. Marked 14k and heavy. The family crest looks like a donkey or warthog-still trying to id it. An oldie for sure.
