Santa Does Exist

25 Dec 2013

On Christmas Eve I received a call from my hunting buddy who asked me to look at a Craigslist post about a lost wedding ring with a reward. I keep up with most of them and try to help when I can. He said I'm certain that is the Tung. wedding ring you found a few days ago. I had to go check in my can that I throw those rings with little value to me. Sure enough it was the very same ring.

I sent a text to the number listed and received a call from a young lady who was excited about the news and arranged to meet me that evening. I met her and her parents and she confirmed the ring was her husband's. The father pulled me aside and thanked me and said they had only been married a couple of weeks now and he lost his ring skim boarding. They had no money to replace the ring so he spent a week trying to find it... which included having other local hunters look for it without success. I asked if the husband had been informed about the find... he hadn't. So I suggested it be put under the tree as a surprise Christmas gift. They loved it.

By the way I refused the $100 reward and told him to give it to the kids to go with the ring. I received a call from the husband on Christmas who thought at first she had bought one just like it. He said he was overwhelmed with thanks and would always remember this. I now have an answer for the question... what is the best thing you ever found. I've detected over 20 years using mostly Minelab machines... this guys is what the hobby is all about.
