My first Indian head cent

01 Jul 2016

I headed out the parents in laws house to learn my E-TRAC better and just had the expectations of digging up some clad. The house was built in 1968 so I figure there is little to no chance for silver to be there but, you never know. What happened next couldn't have been any sweeter. I get a 12-35 signal on the E-TRAC and I figure it might be a shell casing but I give it a chance and take a dig. About 4-5 in down is a coin that I figured was a clad penny but I couldn't make much out and didn't know what it was. I rubbed the dirt away and put it in a little water and behold an Indian head cent 1904! I was floored and amazed at my find! I had to rub my eyes with my dirt covered hands a few times. It’s always nice to find a treasure you were never expecting. Twenty minutes later, I pulled out a silver ring.

Thank you in-laws and thank you Minelab! Moral of the story: You never know where treasure is.
