Treasure through Technology

17 Mar 2017

Any potential treasure hunter investing in a Minelab metal detector has seen the words “Treasure through technology” written on the box. Recently seeing an empty Minelab metal detector on a shelf in my garage, brought a big smile to my face as I thought back to the first time I ever saw those words printed on the box.

I remembered the time I spent researching metal detectors when I first took up beach hunting in Florida, research that ended up paying huge dividends after I chose to use a Minelab metal detector for beach hunting.Treasure through technology was the main reason I invested in my first waterproof Minelab metal detector. I chose the Minelab Excalibur 1000 because my research told me if I wanted to be successful at beach hunting, I needed to use a metal detector that is not affected by mineralized saltwater and sand. A metal detector that can detect Spanish treasure coins and artifacts at treasure coast beaches, while ignoring the salt water matrix. The problem of false signals and poor performance on the lower beach was the main reason for having to change from my old single frequency land metal detector to something more suited to beach hunting.

The Excalibur I invested in all those years ago, served me well and continues to help fill my finds pouch with treasure to this day. I believe you will agree this 300 year old Spanish treasure ring is a spectacular return on my initial investment.

Treasure through technology

Like other Minelab treasure hunting equipment in my beach and water hunting arsenal, the Excalibur works as advertised detecting treasure while canceling out the effects of the saltwater terrain I cover.
Fast forward to today and detecting treasure through technology just as easily applies to my CTX 3030, with an array of advanced discrimination capabilities for detecting lost jewelry at trashy tourist beaches.
You never have to worry about the ground or junk at the beach, just rely on detecting treasure through technology. As a beach treasure hunter, things you see or do every day are easy to overlook or take for granted, like using a Minelab metal detector.

I prefer recovering treasure through technology, will be my reply the next time someone asks me why I always use a Minelab metal detector.

Treasure through technology

As you can see from this recently recovered heavy diamond encrusted gold ring, I still love using my Excalibur.

Gary, I read several of your books and bought a CTX3030 and I am very happy I did. I have just about paid for in in finds in about 45 days.
I have been away from Metal Detecting for 30 years as i used an old Garrett Groundhog in the late 70's and early 80's on the treasure coast of FL. Wow how technology has changed.
For those of you that our just starting out with beach hunting particularly in Florida I recommend Gary's Books.
