Sometimes We Don't Detect For Ourselves

27 Sep 2017

I was detecting on a local playground. I usually wait for it to be completely empty but I was on a time schedule. Little kid is watching me, so I give him my first find, a penny. His older brother comes over, watches and he gets the next, a quarter. Now, the oldest, the sister comes and watches so I tell her she gets the next thing. Wouldn't you know it, a silver ring with a butterfly on it! And of course, as soon as she gets the ring, her mom dragged all three away and left. It was almost poetic how it happened that way. I don't find many silver rings, but she was just so darn happy. Maybe I made some future detectorists that evening. Besides, I can always find more and I'll forget about it soon. She might remember it for years to come. One of the many joys of our hobby. Sorry I don't have a picture of the ring to show you guys. Just me sitting at a bench afterwards realizing what really matters in life. Happy hunting out there, everyone.
