Double Fugio Day

12 Jul 2018

My friend and I scouted out a cellar that was bordering a swamp, it was a tough hike, with little access and when we came across it we could almost not detect it, all the ferns had closed us out. We started by the hole and right away I pulled a Tombac Button putting the site smack in the timeframe that we prefer. My next target was under a fallen log and I had to move it to properly hear the signal...it was 12-44 in a mild iron bed (10' from the hole), I pulled it open and my jaw dropped when I saw a 231 year old Fugio come out.

At this point we got excited and started hunting with high hopes, wasn't more then 5 mins between calling or hearing located relics. Large buttons, tombac dandies, copper and tombac cuff buttons, and a hand hammered drawer pull where amung those recovered.

30 minutes in my friend hit a copper, turned out to be a New Jersey copper. 20 more minutes and I came across my second Fugio with a 60% off dye strike. I got this dig on video because I was 200' from the hole with no competing signals next to the copper.

Right after I bring my Fugio up, my friend was announcing a two copper spill, both 1807 Draped Busts. I turned around and moved 3 ft ....hit another copper signal which turned out to be a 1782 King George 111 Hibernia.

In the end I got 4 total rare coins and two important historical pieces of the United States past, along with a pouch full of relics. I have videos and finds pictures of this hunt and many more like it as I am a avid hunter and cellar tracker. All targets found with my CTX 3030 between the 17" coil and stock 11".
