I usually hunt at night to stay away from the crowds but low tide was 5 o'clock on this day and the beach I picked the slope is where you want to hunt at low. Turned on the EQUINOX and it started out slow with just the usual clad coins, then I got the tone I was waiting for, a nice mid tone. Sorry, but no numbers, I'm not one to check numbers before I dig. I dig everything, leave nothing behind. Put the sand scoop in and when pulling it out noticed a chain hanging off the side and with people behind me not wanting them to see, I placed it back in the hole and reached down and picked it up in my hand and put it in my pouch. Went on detecting and didn't look at it again till I was at the car. Couldn't believe my eyes, marked 23k! I took it home for the acid test and it passed with 22k acid. Weighed it out at 34 grams, over an ounce of almost pure gold, a once in a life time find.
