20K Diamond ring recovery!

14 Jan 2018

1st Ring recovery of 2018! I got a message yesterday from Alexis in Jackson NJ. During an argument with her fiancé' as he was walking alongside his car she took off her engagement ring and threw it at him. It bounced off his car and disappeared. She found me and 2 other guys threw the Ring finders website. The first person there was not able to find it. I then went with my Minelab CTX 3030 with the 11" coil and searched all over the driveway and into the yard in the snow on both sides of the driveway in -5 temperatures. After 3hrs I too was unable to find it. So fellow Ring finder and friend Dennis Burlingame agreed to go the next morning to try as well. I also went back to meet him and continue the search only this time I switched to my 6" coil as the driveway is concrete and had a lot of iron reinforcement which made it difficult to search. Dennis and I both searched the same area and decided to narrow down the area and even though we both went over the same spots with the 11"coils we could not find it. I went over the same spots now using my 6" coil and right near a heavy iron tone I got a blip of a good high tone signal. I then moved the snow around with my foot away from the iron and the high tone came in much clearer. As I bent down to move the snow around by hand it was at that moment I saw part of a ring sticking out! If it were not for that 6" coil I would not have been able to locate it!. Needless to say the customers were very happy! Big thanks to Dennis Burlingame for the assist!
