State Park Weathervane

28 Sep 2012

Our customer Bob Olender who was hunting a State Park with permission unearthed an artifact with his CTX-3030, the rules state anything of historic value must be turned in.

The photo shows the weather vane that was turned over to the park ranger.

The Ranger believed that it was probably on a carriage house that that burned down in the 1760’s. He said that it looked as if it were hand hammered.

Even though Bob could not keep it he sure was excited to find it. He thought it was junk at first but the numbers were coming in the copper range but all over the place and the noise was almost defining. It said 0 inches but I did not find anything till I was at least 8 inches deep.

It took more than an hour to unearth. He could see that it was copper and was being very careful as not to damage the finish or detail on the bird.

The CTX-3030 sure did its job. Also found some clad coins $3.83 in about 3.5 hours.
