Oldies with Bling

18 Aug 2015

Well it's been awhile since my last post but in the last 6 months, I've had some pretty good finds I would like to share with you. I decided to hit a park that's been hammered for many years in the centre of my home town... Slowing my swing way down, in 3 hrs I'd found 3 rings ( 1 gold and 2 silver ) a 1797 cartwheel half penny less than a metre off the footpath and over $60 in mainly $2 coins. Now here's the weird one... opposite my local deli is a strip of reserve lawn area not 50 metres x 15metres... so I thought why not.... It took me over three hours to recover 128 coins, many pre-decimal including a 1806 half penny... the next oldest was one hundred and 40years later... some of the items are pictured including a 1813 Half Penny Lion Token found in the wall of a pathway that has been searched for years including me... a lesson, the best finds aren't under your feet but up a wall of dirt as well. Happy Hunting everyone ! CTX3030 still rocks.
