Great Finds in an Old Park

09 Aug 2021

I bought my detector on 8/6/2021 and couldn't wait to get out and learn my new machine. I went to a local park the very next day (8/7/2021) that had been proven to be established in the Mid-Late 1800's. To my knowledge several Indian Head Cents have been pulled out of the park by a friend with his detector. I took out on the first day with my Equinox 800. The detector was very easy to use and I learned what settings worked best for me at the park.

To my surprise, my third hole of the day, a 11-12 signal, I popped out a 1902 Liberty Head "V" Nickel at only 5" deep. I re-inserted the plug and stood up only to find that I had an 18 signal approximately 3' from where the nickel had been found. At only 3", out popped a sterling silver earring. Both items are seen in the attached picture. I'm still learning on my new machine as I just switched to a Minelab, but as you can tell, if I can do it, you can too! I Love this new detector and I hope to dig up more history soon!
