On Saturday November 6th, my buddies and I headed to a new farm pasture we got permission to. It was a slow start but I ended up digging a few flat buttons, a 1879 Indian Head Penny and even a 1836 Large Cent! My day was already made! Little did I know it was about to get a whole lot better! I ended up getting a 20-22 Signal at 6 inches deep. I dug the hole, pinpointed it in the side wall and saw the well known roundness of a coin looking back at me! I called my buddies over because I knew I had something good. I let one of them pull it out and be the first one to handle it since the day it was dropped. As he’s wiping the dirt away the details were not of a large cent but of something different. We saw a harp and crown on the back and then started looking for a date. He froze and said I had just found a 1692 coin. I couldn’t believe that I was holding something 328 years old in my hand. The condition and patina of this coin is amazing for being this old! This will always be a day i’ll remember and one I’ll always be very fond of!
