Family And Religion In Middle Ages

28 Oct 2015

Hello everyone. Last Friday after work I decided to go out with my metal detector because i had a rough day and i needed to relax a little in the nature. So i took my Minelab Explorer II and went on a freshly ploughed field near my town. For 2 or 3 hours i was spinning in circles on the field and nothing except modern junks...Then i decided to go on the edge of the field near an old canal. When i approached it a strong signal amazed me, i bent down, i dug approx. 30 cm and i did not believe it, there it was, an 8 cm bronze hand carved statue of Jesus, that was probably at some point in history on a wooden cross. The period i think is from middle ages but I’m not sure (please help me if you know) So after i made some pictures and thanked God for the discovery i went on and after 3,4 steps the same signal as before, 2 bronze rings together. I think one for women and one for men from the same period as the cross.

My greatest pleasure was, is and will be to go out in nature and find these sort of things. This is not necessarily a very important historical discovery and it certainly not worth a lot of money or any money, but for me makes all the difference because i can understand the people before me, my ancestors, learn something about them, about their family and their beliefs. This discovery strengthened my faith in God and showed me that my ancestors in this area were people of good faith. So with this opportunity i want to thank Minelab for this discovery and for Explorer, a very well balanced and well thought out metal detector. P.S. My next project is to raise money to buy an E-Trac, because at the CTX 3030 i can only dream for now.
