What a find, from what an excellent machine that has produced hundreds of rings for me over the years. I'd like to begin with that, because that is where it all begins, with the finest beach machine available. I found out my first time out the treasure I already owned purchasing the Excalibur 800. After searching my favorite beach for years, we had an exceptional amount of erosion (so much so, they closed the beach).
The start of the day was like many others, a day to gear up with my scuba equipment. I stood on the platform overlooking the conditions, seeing the deeper green coloration, knowing this meant excellent grounds had become exposed. I knew I was going to have a good day, but didn't realize just how good until about 2 hours into the hunt, right before my tank would reach near empty. After getting about 80 or so common clad coins (no silver at this beach), 4 silver rings, 3 gold bands and class rings, as well as cheap jewelry and some fishing lead, I got that ear-loving low-mid tone that instantly tells you there is gold under the coil. I hand fanned it (as I do most of the other finds), not having to go too deep as the sand had eroded almost down to bedrock. There it was, a real beauty, 9 diamonds in a large wedding band, very shiny yellow. I have found many over the years with the Excalibur 800, but this one was extra large in width and exceptionally beautiful. I have a special pouch for the "good stuff" which was already getting crowded. In it went. I went out for another dive (another tank) lasting about 2 more hours, and added another 2 gold to the pile. I cleaned that available area out for the day (easily done with the Excalibur 800). I took it to my local jeweler who examined it and put a value of 3500.00 on it. It is stamped 14kt gold, 1 ct. tw on the inside for the diamonds, really nice and clean stones. I have large hands, so it only fits my pinky comfortably. The Excalibur 800 truly is a gold producer and certainly the "love of my detecting life". Man you guys are great for making a machine that can produce such items, and on a regular basis for me!!!
