Broken mirrors are not always bad luck

04 Oct 2013

Over the last few years my friend Steve has found several fragments of a Roman mirror. Firstly his Safari found the initial pieces and then he borrowed my CTX 3030 a few times that found some more. This year the field was ploughed deeply first time ever and the spot where the mirror pieces came from revealed a small very smashed up Roman cremation burial.

Minelab products have allowed him to be able to find almost all of the mirror and also some glass and ceramics one small pot although very damaged was able to be reconstructed. How brilliant is this? A combination of his sheer perseverance on this site when other s had given up and the use of the World`s best detecting equipment has ensured a brilliant finale to this.

Who was the person buried here 2000 years ago we shall never know. But one thing is for sure the combination mentioned above means whoever they are they will now never be forgotten.
