"Beast from the East" Celtic Gold

27 Mar 2018

I just returned from my first 10 day detecting vacation to the U.K. It just so happens that our vacation was on the same course as the worst spring storm to hit the U.K. in many, many years. On day seven of the trip, just before lunch, I got a hit on my E-TRAC that read 11-07. In the previous 6 days I had probably got and dug 25 other 11-07 readings and they all were either a small button or a small piece of lead. I pinpointed the target, stuck my shovel in the soft, tilled dirt and just lightly kicked the back of the shovel and pushed the dirt forward, another quick sweep with the E-TRAC and the target had moved. I dropped down to one knee grabbed my hand-held pinpointed and as soon as the pinpointed touched the dirt it immediately sounded off. As I pulled it towards me, I got that unmistakable glint of gold! It is been identified as a 50-20 B.C. Essex Wheel quarter stater. Find of a lifetime! Thanks Minelab!
