Product Notice: GPX 6000 Speaker Use

16 Mar 2022

The GPX 6000 is a high performance, lightweight, and easy to use gold detector. Audio is generated and rendered in one of three ways: either the internal speaker, wired headphones, or wireless Bluetooth aptX Low Latency headphones. (Standard Bluetooth audio is also available)

Because the detector is generally used in an outdoor, open environment the speaker renders audio with high volume to account for the presence of wind and other ambient noise. The speaker will sound more lively than listening with headphones and in some occasional circumstances the speaker may introduce noise that sounds like interference.

If this situation occurs, Minelab recommends performing a Noise Cancel by holding the coil still and about 10 cm (4”) above and parallel to the ground. Press the Noise Cancel button on the control panel and wait for about 5 s until the confirmation tone signals the end of the Noise Cancel procedure. This would cause the detector to operate on a frequency where the noise is not present.

Connecting either the wireless or wired headphones will also suppress any noise that may have resulted from otherwise using the speaker.
