A Tsunami of Coins

April 04, 2014 09:28pm

A very warm day was expected. Like every day at 12 during my break time, I would take out my X-TERRA 705 for a walk in the fields with the kind permission of the local producers.

However, when I arrived at the car, it was so warm that I told myself that I better have my meal at the edge of the water where its shady and leave my detector in the trunk. But of course I couldn’t resist to do some detecting.

Ok, I had only one hour and 15 minutes to do some detecting, including finishing up my lunch. From one shady area to another, it suddenly occurred to me to go to the direction of the forest. I normally wouldn’t even go there because I knew I would not find anything. Nevertheless, I was thinking that at least I could do some detecting where it is shady.

Tracking, Motion, and Sweep Speed – Part 1

February 14, 2014 10:27am

With the introduction of the Motion settings on the GPX series detectors, there has been a bit of confusion among some users as to what it actually does, and also how it differs from the Tracking speed selection. I’ll start with explaining Tracking speeds.

My Diary of our trip to Croatia 2013 - Part 4

December 31, 2013 07:46pm

It's coming to the end of my trip in Croatia so we make one last push to cover several sites to see how well my Minelab detectors would perform on "worked out" sites.

My Diary of our trip to Croatia 2013 - Part 1

December 06, 2013 08:49pm

In this 4 part blog series Gordon Heritage tells the story of his recent 8 day detecting trip to Croatia with fellow detectorist Steve Gaunt and Richard Lincoln. The main purpose of the trip was to see if Croatian rivers were worth detecting and to follow up on a medieval hoard site for missed coins. They were also there to promote metal detecting to local archaeologists and to show how detecting can be used for responsible recording of finds.

In the opening part Gordon tells us about his trip to Croatia, meeting a few of the locals and getting ready for the detecting that layed ahead.

X-TERRA 705 Gold Vs Eureka Gold

November 15, 2013 01:41pm

A question I am often asked is: “I’m looking to buy a detector, but unsure whether to get an X-TERRA 705 Gold or the Eureka Gold”. It’s actually a very good question, as it isn’t an easy one to answer as there are advantages to each machine.

One of the main differences between these two units is that the Eureka Gold has three operating frequencies built in, 6.4, 20 & 60 kHz, whereas the X-TERRA 705 Gold operates on 18.75 kHz with its supplied 10x5” DD coil...

Pay Dirt DVD

November 01, 2013 03:56pm

G'day everyone!

For those who don’t know me already, my name is Gus James and I’m a Gold and Relic hunter! Getting into this passion at a young age, I have been able to grow and adapt my skills to maximize my results using Minelab’s amazing technology. Now having the world’s best metal detector technology is a great start, but there are certain things as operators we can do that will help track down and find more of what we are looking for!
