Some people see life through the lens of a camera or through the canvas of an artist. Tony Diana sees things though the coil of a metal detector. Each beach and each weather event is simply another opportunity to tune his Excalibur metal detector and go searching for gold.
Tony has been detecting since he unwrapped his first detector at 11 years old. His parents would take him to the beaches and parks in Miami, Florida where he would search for coins and jewelery. Later as an officer with a Mechanized Infantry Unit he quickly developed an appreciation for how metal detectors are of critical importance in modern battle readiness.

After leaving the service Tony settled down in Florida where he quickly reaffirmed his love for the hobby and he focused his efforts on beach and water hunting. Tony has many memorable finds but he says nothing compared to a live shark wrapped in fishing line.
A find with bite!
Tony is the lead for Kellyco's water hunting test team and thus has been actively involved in testing the Excalibur under a wide variety of conditions.
With a background in music and audio engineering Tony released ‘Basic Ear Training for Excalibur’ in 2008. This was the first time the principles of audio engineering were applied to a metal detector specific audio CD.

Tony says “the Excalibur is the Saxophone of metal detectors in that the circuit and sound palette presents a wonderful amount of learnable information”.
Tony currently detects actively in Florida and the Caribbean.
