Getting started with the CTX 3030

14 May 2012

Well it’s no secret that the new CTX 3030 is packed with new features, which required significant input from Minelab’s talented team of engineers, designers and field testers during the development phase. Minelab’s team of mechanical engineers were also kept particularly busy. They had the task of building a detector that is robust, waterproof, ergonomic, and at the same time easy to assemble. And in the Minelab tradition, all the advanced features and options don’t get in the way of the CTX 3030 being one of easiest detectors to set up and start using.

In the Getting Started video below, you will see the difference between the two model variants: the Standard and Starter Pack, and I’ll unpack the detector and identify all the parts. Assembling the CTX 3030 is a breeze and the video shows you just how simple it is to put together and charge the supplied Li-Ion battery. Then I’ll give you a quick overview of the control panel, and show you how the buttons and functions have been laid out to make the detector intuitive and easy to use.

Nice video. Why is Minelab going so slow about releasing complete information about the CTX 3030? This causes me concern as to the readiness of the machine for public consumption. I, and many other possible buyers, have not placed orders because of the lack of information. It has caused us to take a "wait and see" position regarding any possible purchase, perhaps for many months until feedback from the field is easily and abundantly available. A couple of the forums have become miserable places to gain information and the moderators of those forums have become hostile to anyone trying to get information that they claim not to have. I've had 2 posts removed from one of the forums' without reason. I only asked a question to help me decide if it was the machine for me. You are only hurting yourselves as those of us in the market for the short term, will probably buy from your competitors.

Hi tommcd,
Thanks for your interest in the new CTX 3030 metal detector.
All information on this new detector will be release on 18 May including the Instruction Manual and the XChange 2 PC application (see the 11 May Minelab news story). Also, for more information keep an eye out for new videos and regular blog posts on Treasure Talk.

I am really looking forward to the 18th. I hope the information is complete enough for me to decide to place my order!

Thanks.

Great video Nenad! This is the first time I've actually drooled over a metal detector :)
