Silver and gold in the mud.

14 Nov 2017

On Saturday 11 November Hyndburn metal detecting group held a rally in the ribble valley. Which I attended with 4 members of the Blackpool club. The rally was well organized and the land available was some pasture fields and some maize stubble fields. I began searching the maize stubble field which was very muddy and after just 15 minutes had found some silver paper and a piece of aluminum then I found a 1926 silver sixpence. Which I am always pleased to find I carried on searching and received a good two-way signal and when I dug out the spade full of mud I saw the milled edge of a gold coin in the lump of mud I picked up the coin with mud attached and went to show Hilary who was detecting nearby. The coin with the soil removed was a gold half sovereign of George the 3rd dated 1820 . What a special moment. Thank you Minelab - Safari.
