My first time of using my X-TERRA 705

30 Jun 2016

I recently bought a new X-TERRA 705, needing to go light weight following a heart attack. About a week ago, I visited one of my farmers to check on how long half a dozen fields would remain available. Whilst there, he told me he was glad I had turned up, as he needed a favour. Some years ago a tunnel was discovered, which crossed one of his fields. Built from stone, the tunnel was less than five feet high, and was thought to be a route to carry water away from the land. At one point, a small area at the top caved in, and, although the farmer had placed a steel cover over the hole, he had inadvertently forgotten to put a proper marker over it. Would I attempt to find it? I naturally did not refuse as it is a part of giving something back. That evening, my detecting pal Barry and I went back to the sight to see what we could do. Neil had placed four stakes in the ground as a guide. Barry had his Deus to use, I was armed with my brand new X-TERRA 705, and was about to use it for the very first time. Within an hour I got a real ear bender, and called my friend to check the signal. At first, he could not pick it up, but did agree that it sounded right on my machine. Thankfully he offered to do the digging, and, at a depth of two feet we had found the item, 30 feet further down the field from where the markers had been placed.

What thrilled me was that the 705 came good when this time a Deus did not. Sadly there are no images to post.
