Goldrush jewellers ring

14 Apr 2016

Went detecting at one of my local parks. I've been detecting this spot for about 7 months as it is a huge area. I got a solid 12:37 signal and thought it would be a $2 coin, to my surprise though when I retrieved the target it was a 9k ring with the makers hallmark name of AO Kopp (Adolph Otto Kopp). Turns out the jeweller was working in Fremantle WA during the Western Australia gold rush and is quite a renowned jeweller for his time (1890-around 1910) , the national gallery of Australia had a gallery a few years ago titled "Out of the West", it was a gallery of goldrush jewellers creations and Adolph Otto Kopp creations were part of the gallery. Anyway I'm very happy to have found this potentially historic piece of rare Australian made Jewellery.
