Belonging to a small group of detectorists in southern Thailand, I received word from a friend that an Australian couple had lost a diamond and white gold wedding band while visiting the beach on Koh Racha off the southern tip of Phuket. I contacted them and we made plans to meet the next morning at the nearby boat pier. Mario and Nicole were devastated when they relayed the story of what happened to their precious ring. Mario said he briefly took the ring to clean it and it slipped from his fingers into ankle depth water and vanished.
They searched feverishly without any luck and returned to the mainland where they searched the internet for assistance, which is what brought us together. Mario hired a boat and we headed out to Koh Racha.
Once there, Mario pointed to the spot he was standing when the ring slipped away. I had my CTX 3030 and based on the beach and water conditions gave us a good chance of success. Before searching myself, I handed Mario my GO-FIND 20 and gave him a 2-minute metal detecting course and handed Nicole a digging tool. Off they went to "the spot" and a few minutes later BINGO! The GO-FIND 20 hit a solid target and Mario reached into the sand and pulled out his bride’s $6,000 dollar diamond ring!
Everyone was all smiles on the ride back to Phuket and feeling very relieved thanks to the GO-FIND 20.
