First ever Gold coin

17 Apr 2017

I was at one of our weekly digs. The area has what is called "night soil", which was used to fertilize the soil, basically waste and Human waste (over 100 years ago). A few copper's, lead and buttons and the odd silver Victorian, Edwardian, 6ds and shillings came up. Then I got a signal which shows as it could be another piece of lead, I dug a spade of soil out and put to the side. Checked the dug soil no signal. I was about to go over the hole again when I noticed a milled edge sticking out of a close. This milled edge had a yellow glint in the sun - "Wow" I said to myself and called my mate Harry over - "what do you think" - I said. "Looks like Gold To me", so while I broke the clod open, he took a couple of pics.

There in my hand was a beautiful 1826 George IV Sovereign - "Boom" I was buzzing. First ever gold coin, I actually shouted I love this machine.

The E-TRAC did it again for me!
