Dry spell over

20 Sep 2016

I found a large cent a short distance from an old stone foundation. I had been to this site numerous times and found only a horse harness bell. This time I decided to sweep the area to the brook, which would have been their water source. On the way I stopped by a large maple and went around it and much to my surprise I got a good hit, a solid number 38 on the all metal mode. I dug just about a foot and found a round object, thought it was a large button at first. I went over to the brook and washed it off and found it was a 1820 large cent. It was 3 years since I had found another old coin, and that was a 1720 French 1 sol coin. I thought my only specialty was finding axe heads, got a dozen of them! Now I am working other areas away from foundations. The third photo is the French coin I found 3 years ago.
