Double Gold

16 May 2016

Two years of searching for the exact location of an 1861 Pro-Southern Civil War camp in NW Missouri, finally yields some great finds including two gold coins, an 1845 $2 1/2 and an 1853 $1.

Other coins found were an 1842 half dime, 1847 half dime and 1856 O dime. Also found were over 200 dropped round balls in various calibers from .28 to .69, some .58 two ring minies and three .36 picket style bullets. The list goes on and on; a tent stake, lead sabot, broken spur, old copper finger ring, lantern parts, buckles, flat buttons and a General Service Union Button.

Not sure how the Union button got to the Pro-Southern Camp. None of the coins were together and I found the golds coins on two different days. The gold coins go to the top of my all time finds list.
