Decided to go out with a friend to a local farm that is open to everyone. I just turned up, paid the fee and then went detecting, I only had 3hrs. Tried one field but it was full of modern stuff, ring pulls etc. Moved onto a stubble field nearer the village and within ten minutes this beauty came out of the ground (a silver brooch by Charles Horner hallmarked Chester 1912). I've only had the CTX about a month but already loving it. I wasn't expecting to find anything at all as this farm has been detected for years and I only went to give my friend a go as he had never been detecting before. The CTX is brilliant and amazing with the 17 inch coil on.
