Colonial Treasure

21 May 2016

After doing research of local area colonial sites I was rewarded this year with the discovery of 4 new cellar holes previously unknown to me. Once I got my Safari to the location, the finds started coming!

I found my second 1858 flying eagle penny, in incredible shape; an 1837 braided hair Large Cent and a colonial era gold locket. Then the oldest coin I've found, an 1803 draped bust Large Cent. And then, to my surprise, an 1863 French 10 Centimes coin. It was totally unexpected but beautiful, made of bronze with the bust of Napoleon III.

The best part is that I've only scratched the surface, and every time I go back I discover another coin. The depth and sensitivity I get from the Safari is incredible, especially when taking into account the heavy trash and iron in the ground. It has been a good year so far with my Minelab Safari!
