A Ring Recovery in Paradise

11 Feb 2017

I got a message from a couple that had lost a ring on Koh Lanta. Koh Lanta is just under a 3 hour drive from me. I was still at work but I messaged back and told Roman from Canada that when I was finished work I was willing to head over. Roman informed me that he was pretty sure of the location as his wife had recalled it missing very early on. I headed over after work to them. We met at his hotel as it was only a short walk to the beach where it was lost. We got to the location and there was a massive X in the sand marked as that was where they thought it had slipped off. I wanted Roman to use the Minelab CTX 3030 to try and find his own ring as I wanted to video the experience. On this occasion didn't go so well in the beginning. I was helping Roman dig while he was using the CTX 3030 and pinpointing, the CTX had the 17" coil on which makes it a little more challenging.

After nearly 20 minutes I decided that I would give it a go. While Roman took the detector headphones off he managed to spot it in one of the holes we had dug! What an awesome result!

The couple were overjoyed and it was smiles all around. He was so happy and smiling from ear to ear. They told me the reason the ring was so sentimental to them as that the rings were recycled from their ancestors rings.
