A Happy Return

02 Mar 2017

I am a retired winter Texan that comes to south Texas to do beach detecting and get away from the harsh Minnesota winters. This is my first year detecting with my CTX 3030 and I have found many rings this winter. I love that machine. One ring I found on the beach was a woman's gold class ring with a small diamond from 2003 Texas A&M. As luck would have it, the owner's name was in the ring. So we did a Facebook search and found who we thought was the owner and sent her a private message. When we didn't get a response, my wife found her address and sent a postcard to her house asking if she was the owner and gave her our phone number. She called us immediately and was just shocked not only that I found her ring, but made the effort to track her down! She described the general area where she had lost the ring in 2006 and how she had lost all hope of ever getting it back. Anyway, she lives quite a ways from where I am wintering, but her in-laws have a house nearby so they met me last week to pick it up and the ring is now back in the owner's possession. We are now all Facebook friends and it was a very happy ending indeed!
