2015 Prospecting Trip

05 Oct 2015

Well myself and 2 mates have returned from our yearly prospecting trip in the north west of WA for a total of 14 days and I have attached some photos,1 of the terrain with my 2 mates taking time out under some small shade, 1 of the gold found by myself with the GPZ and 1 of a water hole found while walking back to camp after a hard 5 hours searching in 38 degree heat, and yes we did drink the water and soak our feet. We returned to several old spots that I had detected over 15 years ago and that others had done recently and I found that even after all that time I still was able to get out with the GPZ and find a small nugget within 30 mins.

Due to the heat it was one of the hardest trips I have done for a while, or maybe I am just getting old, but the temperater ranged from 38-40 degrees at 11am and didn't go below until late in the day so we found ourselves doing a lot of night time detecting. I found the GPZ to be extremely easy to use and as you can see by the photo very good on small nuggets, some less than 0.1 of a gram. We also had 2 of the 5000 detectors which were also picking up a lot of the same size but I found that even after my mates had finnished a spot I could still go in with the GPZ and find a couple that were missed by the 5000. I ended up with 136 nuggets weighing in at 32 grams and a few small speci's.

All in all it was another awesome trip in very ruggered terrain with some good company and a lot of beer. Hope you enjoy the photos Thanks Cookie – WA, Australia
