Excalibur 1000

April 30, 2012 03:38pm
metal detector find - wedding ring in dam - south africa

The call was to try and find a wedding band made from grandparents rings and passed down to the first grandchild, that had been lost in a farm dam During an afternoon swim at the annual family new year celebrations at the beginning of 2011. The dam had been emptied end of February 2012 for a complete revamp after being full of water for over 70 years. I was to see if I could find it before the bulldozers moved in!

Wish It Was My Full Time Job

April 29, 2012 03:20pm
metal detector find - angel coin - usa

I went and picked up my buddy today April 28th, and he doesn't have a car or a very good detector. I usually feel bad as I pull tons of coins, silver and more out and he ends the day with very little. Today he did good digging a silver coin from 1939 and I was the one feeling bad.

I and fellow Dayton Digger Tom Johnson were called out to see if we could find a lost wedding ring. The gentleman had lost it he believed in his garden plot two years before and after much fruitless searching thought it was gone for good. His daughter contacted Tom and Tom asked me to help him find it if we could.

Best Days Detecting Yet!!

April 26, 2012 04:01pm
metal detector find - roman fibula 130-140 AD - uk

Since taking up detecting, my finds rate had been terrible with only a few coins dated 1807 and a couple of odd artifacts in the last year since September. I was using an inferior machine at the time and was getting a bit disheartened, was itching to find something of decent age.

Never Thought it Would be this Great

April 26, 2012 04:00pm
metal detector finds - usa

I can't believe it! I found another silver today. I never actually thought it would be this great. I thought it was going to better, but not like this. I used my old detector for 2.5 years. I found 2 silver dimes, both Roosevelt's, both shallow, most likely new drops. I have had my E-TRAC for 3 weeks. I have found three silver coins already, two mercs and now a Washington!!!!

Finds with Excalibur II in South of Finistère

Excalibur II

April 26, 2012 03:32pm
metal detector find - rings and coins - france

English Translation from French

As a beachcombing enthusiast for years and after cleaning all the beaches around my home with many types of detectors, I had the good idea to buy a Minelab Excalibur II in order to avoid my detector always getting “sunk” by a wave or a heavy shower.

But I didn’t expect that this waterproof metal detector would have such amazing performance! Not only did I find with it several rings in wet sand, but I have also been amazed to see its performance on dry sand.

Here in April I saw the weather report was calling for a sunny day in the 70's so I took my new E-TRAC to work today. On the way home I stopped at a nearby dog park which has a farm house dating back to 1834.

Hurricane Bill

April 19, 2012 04:03pm
metal detector find - dimond ring - usa

In August of 2009, Hurricane Bill was off the east coast, hitting Bermuda. I heard that we were expecting lots of beach erosion so I headed there first thing in the morning. I almost was dragged out to sea by a wave that morning and respectfully decided it was safer to hunt the wet sand rather than the raging surf.
