Lost Wedding Ring found in Sand Dunes Australia

CTX 3030

February 04, 2014 05:00pm
metal-detector-finds-ring.JPG

I had a frantic call from a guy called Brett to say that his wife of four weeks had dropped her diamond encrusted 18 carat white gold wedding ring in the soft sand dunes at Lake Conjola on the south coast of New South Wales, Australia.

It was late in the afternoon when he called so I made the hour long drive to the location as soon as possible. When I got there Brett explained that they had half a dozen people searching the area but with no luck. I asked them to point out the vicinity that they believed the ring was dropped.

CTX 3030

January 08, 2014 09:00am
metal-detector-finds-gold-ring.jpg

This is my greatest find ever.

It all started in my vacation, I was at the Island Ameland in the Netherlands. Like other years I always take my detector with me. In earlier vacations my E-TRAC and this holiday my new CTX 3030. And when the kids sleep, I go out a couple of hours to detect, while my wife stays with the kids at home. Hmmm love my wife for doing this...

metal-detector-finds-ring-coin.jpg

Having a few hours to spare was good on Friday avo but the tide was high but it was still a successful afternoon. After calibrating the machine me and my son started walking towards the water first signal I got was a good one not too deep I was a gold plated ring nice surprise. As we made our way across the beach got a few more signals mainly being old coins anyway another signal registering 20 on the X-TERRA came up digging it up revealed a nice silver ring with little stones on it.

On Christmas Eve I received a call from my hunting buddy who asked me to look at a Craigslist post about a lost wedding ring with a reward. I keep up with most of them and try to help when I can. He said I'm certain that is the Tung. wedding ring you found a few days ago. I had to go check in my can that I throw those rings with little value to me. Sure enough it was the very same ring.

Time is Money

X-TERRA 705

December 21, 2013 10:00am
metal-detector-finds-watch.jpg

The weather was bleak dark clouds everywhere but the beach was perfect after the 40°C (104°F) heat on Friday to cool down and do some detecting. I must say the X-TERRA 705 is an awesome machine and, it's a pleasure to use every time. The coins started coming up on a regular basis and before long I had a following of youngsters following me I didn't mind and I answered their questions. The battery symbol started flashing as I was deciding to head back to the car I got one last signal digging it up I was surprised it was a watch wow so I suppose time is money!

Hunting the surf you can see the long face of a person who has just lost something of great value, on Aug 2013 a guy just lost his gold wedding band in waist deep water, well my E-TRAC isn't waterproof I told him but I will look at low tide, well that came and went like 10 times up til Dec. Friday the 13th my lucky day, and for the guy who lost his ring of course!!! He and his wife live in califonia, and told him the great news, well he is still on the floor as we speak, he is ok !!! So Monday I mail it back to him. Good karma goes along way with me.

metal-detector-finds-gold-ring.jpg

I went to Florida for a few months for some decent vacation. Another beautiful day as I arrived at the beach about noon. A lifeguard I know came over to say hello. He says someone lost the wedding ring a few minutes ago at station 12. I said I would go look. When I got there, there was another guy with an Excalibur already hunting in the water. I talked to the other lifeguard and she pointed out the person that lost their ring. He was from Argentina on vacation with wife and child.

Rainy Night Hunt @ The Beach = My Best Find Yet!

CTX 3030

December 07, 2013 08:00am
metal-detector-finds-gold-ring-J.jpg

It was a Rainy Tuesday Night, and I had just returned home from work. I had plans to go get a short hunt in that evening, even though it was raining. The swell chart said there was some larger than normal choppy waves, so I put on the rain gear and headed down.

It was very low tide when I arrived, after the first 45 minutes I had come to the conclusion that no good targets where going to be from the middle of the beach and up. So I focused on the water line to knee deep hoping to find a spot where some sand moved. I finally started finding some quarters and nickels in ankle deep water. Then I got a deep solid 12-39 on the CTX 3030. From experience zincs where I hunt never go above 12-38.

Show me the Gold!

Excalibur 1000

November 27, 2013 10:30am
metal-detector-finds-gold-jewellery.JPG

I met up with my treasure hunting partner and his girlfriend at the airport in Birmingham and jumped on the plane. It wasn't a long flight, and the time flew by.
We rescued our bags from the roundabout of doom, and hopped on the transfer to the hotel. I checked in and went to my room. First things first I unpacked my Excalibur 1000 from the suitcase and set it up. The moment of truth came, I turned on the detector and waited hoping for the low background hum that was going to be my constant companion for the next 14 days...There it was, my detector was back in business!
