Beach Finds

212 target day and GOLD

Excalibur II

July 22, 2014 09:00am

Went to a lake and hunted a beach with a friend that must have not been hunted in a long time. I was using my Excalibur II and he was using his Garrett At Pro. I was getting hits after hits digging it all. I started working the buoy line that separates the deeper water from the shallow side I got a low foil like tone. I figured it was just a wrapper from a cigar pack like I have gotten before. To my huge surprise I saw a Yellow Bracelet hanging half out of my scoop and after looking it was marked 14k but had CZ's in it! A little while later we decided to take a break and as I was just about out of the water I got a tone that was higher pull tab. when I was washing the clay out I saw a sweet sight of yellow again. This time it was a 10k men’s ring with some small real stones. WOW 2 gold but I was not done. LOL. We continued to hunt for a while after our break and just at the end my LAST target of the day at the water’s edge again was a blip on the Excal. I dug 2 scoops and in the bottom of the clay clog I saw a tiny yellow ring. It is 10k and missing whatever was in the center of it. BIG WOW 3 gold items! I ended the day with Gold some silver and $11.95 in Clad! My buddy found 1 silver stud earring and about $6 in clad. I love my Minelabs!

July 21, 2014 08:00am
IMG_8740.jpg

I recently spent some time detecting on the east coast of Florida in the Sebastian inlet area. My CTX 3030 was crushing the competition picking stuff up others walked right by... The weather was beautiful and I found a 14K white Gold ring a 14K white gold Mariners Cross a sterling Silver cross and chain and a sterling tennis bracelet with rubies emeralds and sapphires and allot of clad worth a few dollars...but my biggest treasure was found inside a clump of sand I picked up and brought back to Delaware it has an old brass eyelet with canvas wrapped around it...after it was cleaned by Dale W. Clifton owner of the shipwreck Museum at Fenwick Island DE. he noticed two Silver 1715 era Spanish Half Reale Cobbs imbedded in the Conglomeration. Dale was very kind an issued me a letter of authenticity for my finds. If you want to get motivated visit his Shipwreck Museum in Fenwick… truly amazing! I'm elated my first real piece of real treasure...See you on the beach!

Another one

CTX 3030

I always metal detect on the beach opposite the area before entering the water.  As this superb 18K gold ring with three 3/4 carat diamonds show, not all jewelry is lost in the water at tourist beaches.  My CTX 3030 helps me to avoid digging unwanted junk targets in the dry sand and find treasure between the trash. Thank you Minelab for changing my fortunes on another south Florida treasure hunt.

The Virtue found

CTX 3030

May 08, 2014 10:30am
La Vertu retrouvée ring.jpg

Summer 2013, a Parisian holidaymaker whilst swimming in the channel of Lake Hossegor (Landes in France ) lost her " Virtue " ring (made by jeweler Mauboussin)  of white gold and white pearl set with diamonds, that had been given to her by her husband at the birth of their daughter.

After two days of fruitless searching with her diving mask, on the eve of returning from vacation, she contacted the MNS ( lifeguards) that monitor the bathing area nearby in case someone would find it ... without much hope.

That's when they said to her that the Prospectors Association (Association Detection Gascony Landes, of which I am president ) offers its services free of charge (Operation " Lost and Found ").

$12,000.00 Ring Returned!

Excalibur

May 05, 2014 10:00am
ring.JPG

What are the chances I'd be reading the lost section on Craigs List and go find the ring? that's just what I did. Let me start by thanking Minelab for making the best detectors on the market today. I've owned 16 Minelabs and all were great. I now hunt with a GT and Excalibur.

I contacted the girl on Craigs List to get a better idea of where on Tybee Beach she lost the ring. She was on a float tube in front of life guard stand #4 about waist deep. on the 4th day of hunting I got that sweet sound of Gold! 4 scoops later, there it was in my scoop! I got out of the water and sent a pic of it to her... she was so happy. that evening she drove 3 hrs to pick it up. she was very happy to get it back as she had just gotten it a week before. oh and I was happy too with the $2,000.00 Reward!!! now I can buy another Excalibur!

I had several days of Great Detecting on the Montego Bay beaches, scoring 3 gold rings, 4 silver rings gold and silver Neck chains and an array of other jewelry. all this and a beautiful Flawless wedding ceremony.
