Whist metal detecting in Hampshire with the Surrey Searchers MD club on a club dig, I was fortunate to find a 'very rare' gold half noble of Philip the Bold, Duke of Burgundy and the Earl of Flanders 1184-1204. At first I thought it was a milk bottle top but on closer inspection I knew it was a gold noble. Everyone was amazed at the club on such a find, it was only 3 days later that we found out how rare it was.
