I went to a local beach with a fellow metal detecting buddy. When we arrived at the beach, I took the left side and my buddy started toward the right. No more than five minutes into my search, my CTX 3030 showed a strong signal in the 12.20 range which is potentially a gold ring. After my second scoop, my detector showed no signal in the hole. I kicked the sand pile and I could see a small glint of silver protruding from the sand. I reached down and could not believe what I picked up. It was a large woman’s diamond ring! I stood there just staring at it in disbelief. Then, I began a tight spiral search pattern around the hole. Almost immediately, about three feet away, another signal appeared on my screen very similar to the other one. In my scoop appeared another diamond ring. The two rings had to have been lost together. Both were 14k and white gold.
One of them had a name engraved on the inside. I placed an ad on the local online lost and found section. That same afternoon I received an email with a photo of one of the rings. A very grateful woman had sent the email and told me what the name was inside the ring. We made arrangements to meet at a coffee shop near my home. The woman and her husband drove an hour from their home to meet me. The woman told me she had lost the rings a couple weeks ago. She had set the rings on her towel before she went in the water. When she left the beach, she shook the towels and headed for the car. When she arrived at the car she realized that the rings were gone. Her and her husband returned to the spot where she thought she lost them. While crying, she searched the area for two hours without any luck. Over the next two weeks, she could not stop thinking about the rings. Her friends told her to forget about them and stop torturing herself. The couple gave me a $200 gift certificate as a token of their gratitude. I have never seen a more grateful and happy woman.
