The Beach is Still Hot

16 Oct 2014

I started Metal Detecting in 1979. I used to mainly Detect inland. But found out the Atlantic Coast Beaches can produce Great Finds and easy target retrieval. I like to Metal Detect after North Eastern Storms and Hurricane's, I am presently watching Hurricane Gonzalo, Oct 2014 on NOAA. I live about 4 1/2 hour drive from the East Coast. I mainly search from the North Carolina Outer Banks to Florida. It took me over 30 years to Find my Current Beach Hot Spot. I usually have to detect this area 12-13 hour straight because of the tides and sometimes have to wear a Life jacket because of the currents. The enclosed pictures are what I Find in (1 ) Day . The Rare South Carolina Militia Plate was Detected recently along with the Coins from the 1700-1800 and the Flat Buttons. The 1st time I located this spot I could see Coin and Buttons from the 1800's just lying on the Beach, I detected for over 20 hours in 2 Days. I use a Minelab Excalibur with an 8 inch coil. The day before I found this site I ordered a Minelab E-Trac. What was I thinking. -goldnugget
