Roman statue

02 Sep 2014

I received my CTX3030 and the next morning i go very early for trying and testing (and hoping). I started at a field where i was before with my old Safari, arriving at the field there were 2 other people searching with detectors, one with a deus and one with a laser rapier. I talked with the people if they found something and asked if it was okay to join them... that was totally no problem. For me this was the most ideal test .....Different detectors and different settings and not much left on the field…. Well after one hour and some modern junk and further nothing just like the other people we stand at the edge of the field with 3 people and 3 detectors. We said goodbye and I walked with detector on towards my car at the border side, and on the spot where we all walked a few times and met at the start i received a beautiful loud tone....and digging 32 centimeters deep i did the found of my life....a bronze roman statue. I search for 32 years and this was my happiest metal detecting moment of my life... I reported the found to the Archaeological service for identification, and this came back. Hercules Bibax (Hercules the drinker) 2 century A.D made: Neder-Germanië or Gallië The evidence on which this version of the demigod identify the statuette are the (divine) nudity, the over the shoulder and arm draped (lions) skin and especially the cup I hope to compete with this to the found of the month. Kind regards Jack - Provincie Limburg, Netherlands
