Rare Higley Copper FOUND

27 Nov 2013

I was out detecting a colonial cellar hole yesterday and pulled some nice 1700's relics when I get a nice solid 36 on my safari. Usually at a place like that a 36 is a King George copper, but this was different. I noticed there was a deer on the coin it looked familiar from somewhere but I couldn't place it till I went home and looked through my Red Book. I noticed it was a rare 1737 Higley Copper of which supposedly only 80 are known to exist... although it looks like there's 81 now. In AG3 condition this is listed as a $6000 coin and could be much higher based on the rarity. I was absolutely thrilled with this once in a lifetime find.
