Olav Kyrre Haraldson (1067-1093) coin

25 May 2015

Last year on our first club rally 17 rare Norwegian Viking coins were discovered. Unfortunately, out of the 15+ participants only I and one other guy didn't find any. Seeing as most of the other guys/girls used XP Deus' I was worried that my new CTX3030 wasn't as good as their machine. I have since learned how to use the CTX properly, and on the first club rally of 2015 earlier this month lady luck payed me a visit. I was rushing after the other 25 detectorist in the group, who I saw were moving to a new virgin field. While half running I hit a low signal (.05-.06). As I was in a hurry I didn't dig it and kept going as this signal had turned out to be a piece of foil earlier on the same field. I stopped about 15 meters on and reconsidered. It would be silly to leave that signal behind, I thought to myself. I hurried back and hastily dug it. When I turned the plug over, the beautiful Olav Kyrre coin just popped out and almost fell in my lap. My best find ever! Super rare coin. So pleased!

Going back to that foil signal is probably the best detecting decision I have ever made. My CTX3030 delivered the goods. I have totally fallen for this machine. Brosmekongen - Troms Fylke, Norway
