Minelab

My oldest and coolest coin

25 Jan 2013

The day started out cold, but with sunny skies and no breeze the day began to get warm quickly. This is the second time I have hit this Revolutionary War site and had high hopes of goodness. There are 3 field areas that make up this site, and the fields are pretty much cleared except for hay stalks and some stickers.

Half way through the day after finding numerous flat buttons and countless colonial square head nails. I had a 12-39,41,40,44 hit in all directions. First let me say the soil is mostly sandy with high mineralization. This is why I think the numbers were jumpy. So I proceeded to dig about 7-8" down and out popped an 1730 King George II Half Penny. My oldest and coolest coin. The sand helped keep in nice condition.

I was using the Minelab CTX 3030 with the standard coil, which has been a proven powerhouse. Thanks.
