Had Doubts But Not Any More

10 Mar 2015

G'day All, It was Thursday 26th of February 2015 ...When I said to Jen " I know a place we could try the GPZ 7000  We have Found gold down deep with the sd2000 plus with all the other minelab machines since"  So with that thought in our minds we headed out to this spot. Once we arrived, we started to ping bird shot! After about half a dozen bird shot I said to Jen "I am over these Bloody things"  so I adjusted the controls into the General Gold from the High Yield settings and headed off again pinged a bit of rust that wasn't very deep.  We were only detecting for about 1/2hr and Jen said "my turn"  and she carried on from where I had stopped, as my arm was getting a little sore from the weight. that was my fault as I didn't have the harness or bungy on. Anyway I heard the WM 12 give off a definite little change, I thought to myself that sounds OK. Looked over to where Jen was.. So I then raced over and started to Dig the ground for her, took a couple of inches off the top and Jen waved the coil over the scraped out area, the sound improved slightly better.  So I started to really hack into it with the pick taking out another few inches.  This time the sound improved to a very positive signal coming from the hole.  Once we dug down past the 1 foot mark, we looked at each other and said," hope it's not a horse shoe" as the signal by then was booming in. We then surveyed the surrounding ground, I then said, " can't be a horse shoe we are working in natural un-dug ground" So with that thought in our minds we started to think, wonder how big this piece of gold could be. Anyway to cut a long story short after cutting through 3 small tree roots we finally had the target out at about 20"/24" deep.  The first clump of clayey soil I picked up I could feel the weight and I knew it had to be Gold!   it turned out to be a nice slug too.   51 grams!!! Well finally ...after a little well deserved rest. I said "well it's my turn now" just over 1mt away we received another slightly better signal and after digging down a foot, out popped another nice one.   Again under small tree roots The 51 grammer was about 20 inches deep, under a few small tree roots.

The 10 grammer was about 12 inches deep also under small tree roots.

YouTube link http://youtu.be/3F1ZyIhCvi4 Were we happy??? you bet we were!!!!  We proved to ourselves that the GPZ 7000 works a treat. So to any doubters, go try this machine again, go slow and listen to any slight ground changes. This detector does find the gold, if you walk over it. Also.. For those who are going to ask the question. Did I have my GPX 5000 or even our GPX4500 With me to do a comparison test, nope! sadly.. :( I didn't think to bring them along. I really didn't think we were going to find anything with all the negative talk that was going around.  We only had the SDC2300 in the car which we ended up using as a pin pointer.  I even left our pinpointer at home. :( This area has been hammered by us, with all the other machines, and large coils, this area has been camped on raked clean by others. So for us, we now believe in this machine. We would like to thank minelab , Bruce Candy and all the team for making this new detector For us so that we can continue to enjoy this wonderful hobby! These were the settings I used when we found the gold GPZ 7000 settings Gold mode : General  Ground type: difficult Sensitivity: 14 Volume: 11 Audio smoothing: high Ground balance mode : auto Volume limit: 12 Threshold pitch: 48 Threshold level: 26 Also using the WM 12.  Wireless Module.  P.s moral of this story for us is.. Don't believe everything you read  Go try one for yourself,  I have since found more gold with the GPZ 7000 Not as big as the 51 grammer yet. Here's what we found all up so far 65.4 grams. From the same area. Cheers  All     Mike54 & Jen58
