First charge challenge with the CTX 3030

28 Sep 2012

Dear Minelab and Gerry's Detectors,

WOW! This CTX 3030 is a monster!!! Since I upgraded from my other detector my silver coin count has increased tenfold.

I'm not saying that the other detector is a bad machine. I found tons of incredible things with it but I knew I was missing some of those deeper targets. The places that I hunt are sometimes over 120 years old and I was lucky if I pulled out a wheat penny or two.

The maiden voyage with my new CTX 3030 was at a house that was built in 1910. I've hunted this yard several times with my other detector and I felt confident that I had found everything that it was capable of finding. The yard had produced a few wheats but I wasn't able to squeeze any silver from it... Until the CTX 3030 came along. It was like the yard had never been hunted.

My first hunt with the CTX 3030 yielded 3 mercury dimes, one silver Rosie and 16 wheat pennies!

When I got home I called Gerry (From Gerry's Detectors) right away and told him how impressed I was with this machine. He challenged me to compare my finds from the past year to the finds I made during the first battery charge with the CTX 3030.

Well... after about five more hunts with the CTX 3030 the battery was finally dead. In that first battery life span I found everything pictured. I found more silver coins in that first charge than I found the past 3 years with my other detector!

I also broke into the 1800's club with an 1898 "V" nickel! Not mention the 44 wheat penny's and $54 in clad that aren't in the picture.

The ability to consistently ID targets at depth is unmatched. I can't begin to tell you how well this machine is able to hit coins that are masked by iron. The "target trace" functions almost like an X-Ray. I can literally see on the display screen nails that are on top of coins... Coins that everyone else has just ignored because their machines saw the nail and not the coin.

I've found hundreds of coins with garbage in the same hole! As for depth? Well, let's just say I had to get a big boy shovel because the trowel I was using was just too much work. I consistently dig coins 8-12 inches deep.

The best part? I haven't even had a chance to get this baby wet yet. I can't wait to see how many rings she can sniff out. Deep, consistent, GPS, waterproof, well balanced, long battery life, wireless headphones... the list goes on.

If you ever wonder what you're missing with your other detectors just come hunt next to me and my trusty CTX 3030... I'll show you.

Thanks again to Gerry's Detectors and Minelab!
