Another great find, don't get me wrong I am out detecting often, but you also need to be armed with a good detector as it has proven its self-time and time again, This was the first Saxon brooch I found and it’s my best up to now of a few, It was just a typical detecting day, I was detecting a very large field, it’s one of them fields, very slow but if you do get a few signal in the day you usually have a keeper, You guessed it this was it, the morning started of slow, a roman grot part brooch, I went and had some dinner, then continued to detect, I didn't have a signal for over half hour, then my ears was nearly blown off, I thought coke can, I moved the soil with my foot and ran the coil over the spot again, the signal had moved (btw I will now only use the stock coil no other brands, nothing to touch this coil all round) I then just moved the soil with my hand it was there another day to remember.
