I have long been intrigued by metal detecting, and a little over a month ago I took my first step and purchased an E-TRAC from Tom at Minneapolis Metal Detectors. He recommended E-TRAC the for its overall superiority in finding deep silver. I got it home and hit the dirt running. Up until this weekend, I have only been getting clad and the occasional piece of jewelry. I was starting to wonder if my town (which dates back to 1820), had anything left in the ground to find. Well, the old bridge in town going over the Mississippi is getting a little dated and is now being replaced. Collateral damage of this construction forced them to rip up the main street leading up to the bridge. I saw this as my once in a lifetime chance to get under the concrete and detect the original dirt beneath it.
