1793 Liberty Cap cent from between the corn rows

20 Jun 2013

My find of a lifetime!

I found this in a field that I have detected many times over the years, and I have came away with a lot of great coins, buttons, etc. including some British coins and a 1798 large cent but nothing of this caliber.

Recently, it has been producing so well because it was turned over to plant corn, while for years now it has just been hay fields so I had pretty much depleted it until there was hardly anything left and now it is just like new again.

As far as depth goes it was only 3 inches deep. The coin just popped right out in the first shovel full of dirt.
