1700s coin in Australia

17 Apr 2015

Today was my best day out detecting so far! I went to a park that i found an1858 token for pills and ointments and found something amazing. My mum took me to the park and i started detecting. My first signal was a 36 going up to a 40 at 5 inches, i dug it and was amazed to see a pocket watch part! I kept on swinging and got a 32 signal at 5 inches, dug it and found an awesome 1800s button! Kept on swinging and got a 40 signal at 4 inches, dug it and it was a1901 GB penny! Only a few feet away i got a signal that was bouncing around-44,40,32,36,28,40 but i still dug it because of all my other finds. I opened the plug, checked the hole and got a repeatable 40 at 6 inches, checked with the pinpointer, pulled it out and thought "oh well just another washer" then i saw detail. I immediately remember seeing something on the internet about Chinese coins, i jump up, wave at my mum, take of my headphones, run and jump on the table she was sitting at and yell "1700s", turn around and jump off the table with a load "yea" filling the empty park with noise. I was so happy. I got a few more GB pennies then my mum came over and said "one more hole then we gotta go" so i went off and got a 32-36 signal, i got on my knees, dug a plug, checked with the pinpointer and there it was a silver ring. I had a feeling it was something special. When i got home i cleaned my finds and noticed inside the ring it had a pattern and some writing. I believe the ring is a coin ring (a ring that is fashioned out of a coin) and is a Britannia shilling from 1881! Thanks minelab!!! : ) and thank you mum for taking me!
