It was one of the coldest days in Arizona and broke many records for Jan. I had 5 layers of clothing on and was still cold.
This was the worst day for weather I had ever detected in. I had just found 10 pieces of gold in a small drainage and was about to give up when I crossed the low laying hill above me. Bang, my earphones almost came off. Must be a bullet, I’ll dig it anyway.
Holy cow! A nice nugget over 3 grams, just over an inch deep. I immediately started searching the area and more and more pieces of gold started showing up. The first day produced 26. The following 6 days gave me a total of 70 pieces of gold from that hillside.
This patch was fabulous and kept me awake at night. My Minelab GP 3500 was amazing. It found deep gold and shallow pieces so small with a total weight of 2 ounces.

This was truly my best and worst day of detecting.
