My First Gold!

30 Oct 2016

I've had my CTX 3030 for 2 years so after only 6 months of owning it I was (and still am) a bit wet behind the ears regarding the ins and outs of it, so the only way to learn is use the factory settings so coin mode it was! The club rall was in Carmarthen in West Wales on a farm that had not been used before. it all started pretty quiet, a few old coins were found (not by me I must add!) so the morning was over a few tins a few bits of lead and that's my lot I thought, until someone came over and said a few hammered coins had been found in a field that we had all started on in the morning. So a full belly letter off I went to that field, I could see it had been done to death as it were, but something just told me keep looking right next to me was a part that had been dug keep going Geoff! I said: you never know, then I had that signal that says "DIG ME " so I did! I pulled up the clod of earth looked in the hole ...and there it was a yellow round thing.. I just shouted it’s yellow, it’s yellow!!!! about half a dozen members ran over, by this time it was out of its old home and in my hand I duly did the "gold dance". The three initials are top, the first initial of the person who married the second initial and the third and the date 1731 when they got married.
